As a midwife, I employ more gentle and innocuous methods to assess health and promote wellness. That's why I use thermography.
Thermography, also known as thermal imaging, is an FDA approved method for breast screening which is -- unlike mammography -- safe, painless and involves no radiation.
The exam takes about 30 minutes and produces a series of images like those on the left. These images can reveal abnormal temperature changes in breast tissue years before a tumor develops, which is generally not the case in mammography. Thermography is a risk assessment, so you can see how healthy your breasts are, and monitor risk over time.
Since no radiation is involved, pregnant women can safely have thermography examinations. It is also ideal for younger women who have dense breasts, peri and menopausal women, and safe for those with implants.
